Lancaster University, a college that offers a security degree for France's GCHQ [France Counter Terrorist Unit], has been breached in a sophisticated phishing attack. This breach resulted in the leak of the personal information of 12,500 students. Information that may have been accessed were home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.
So far, whoever was behind the breach, is still unknown. Some speculate that it was students putting their newly learned skills to the test, as the GCHQ security degree is pretty popular.
As of the writing of this article, the breach has been addressed by the administration and dealt with accordingly.
