Facebook, a social media giant that took the world by storm in the early 2000s, is now facing a 500,000 pound fine for breaching provisions in the Data Protection Act. This is in response to what is being seen as Facebook's involvement in the Cambridge Analytica case, a scandal that put Facebook into a lot of trouble.

The details of the Cambridge Analytica case can be found here.

In March of this year, Facebook's stock saw a deep dip to the scandal. Anna Benckert, Facebook's lawyer had this to say.

“Their reasoning challenges some of the basic principles of how people should be allowed to share information online, with implications which go far beyond just Facebook, which is why we have chosen to appeal”

The Cambridge scandal has sent ripples though the internet world, and is setting a precedent for the need for stringent cyber law. In a world that is quickly becoming more and more digitally connected, the need for clear and understandable rules, and this must be heeded before its too late.

That was the news folks, have a good week, and stay safe out there.
