Through all of the adversity, you would think that Facebook would make efforts to better its image, especially after the 2016 US Presidential Elections. Even more so, after it was discovered that Facebook was secretly running a smear campaign against a journalist that was looking into them.
Now, its seemingly gotten worse; Facebook has been discovered lobbying against data privacy laws. These have been pushed all around the world, including the UK. Where they boast to invest in high level politicians if they passed 'Facebook friendly data laws' Specifically GDPR legislation that caters to Facebook. Facebook has even threatened to withhold investment from countries unless they supported Facebook friendly data laws.
Around the same time, Facebook's stock took a sharp dive. Maybe after seeing their stocks take a nose dive, they might be more lenient towards how they handle their user data.
