LA's budding scooter companies are facing some issues, as the Las Angeles Department for Transportation is trying to collect real time location data of its users. They have stated that its for city planning and to see which communities have access to them.

The whole of the companies that cater these scooters so that LA commuters can make the rush, are split on the plan, and its only for the fact that the location data of their customers being aggregated in such a way, that it could be used to identify the individual customer, and use the information to orchestrate malicious acts.

This could potentially be detrimental; one red flag that comes up is the information was used to alter political elections in LA and by extension the state of California as well.

There are quite a few groups that are involved in creating a plan, and a lot of them are split, between privacy, the city, and potential threats.
