The infamous Magecart hacker group has struck again, this time having stolen the credentials of 201 cards across the US and Canada. In an official report, it was stated that 176 colleges and universities in the US were affected, and 21 in Canada were affected as well.

This attack was reported to have been instigated utilizing malicious Javascript that was uploaded to the E-commerce system, specifically the PrismRBS E-commerce platform. This way, the student stores that were affected, are not attacked directly, but directly affected via a supply chain attack.

Magecart has been active for a while, attacking large companies in a move to acquire financial data and sell them on darkweb cyber-crime forums. A large measure of profit has been made from this, and has resulted in a global crackdown.
