Facebook has agreed to pay the 500,000 dollar fine for its involvement in the Cambridge Analytica scandal, this comes after Facebook dropped their appeal in court. This is the maximum amount that the social media giant can be fined in this instance, this came to pass before the GDPR was implemented, which if the decision came after the GDPR, the fine could have been up to 4% of Facebook's annual turnover.

Despite claims by Mark Zuckerberg about privacy being a top priority, there are many who still remember the Cmabridge incident. Hence, Facebook will always be associated with mistrust.
