Over the weekend, SmarterASP.NET was hit with a ransomware attack, that crippled its services for anyone that uses their web hosting services.

According to a report, customers had their accounts encrypted, which crippled user's abilities to access their websites. It is unclear as to when the attack happened, and who was behind it; although according to some reports it was found that they were hit with a version of the Snatch ransomware, which has been known for spreading via emails with infected attachments, or through exploits in the OS or in installed software.

Officials have stated that they are working to retrieve people's accounts for them, and to ensure that it never happens again.
