Facebook is once again under fire after it was discovered that, along with other tech giants such Amazon, and Apple Inc, that privately contracted people to listen to private conversations between Facebook users. This is not good for Facebook, as its bare several months since they settled their 5 billion [USD] settlement with the FTC.

Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg, stated that such activities were ceased once it became apparent that this was crossing boundaries of privacy. Also, the company stated to Congress that they only listen when the user has given permission to do so, in light of Amazon having been singled out for similar activities, Facebook ceased the transcribing a week or so ago.

It is beginning to become apparent that these tech companies had it that they have cart blanch, to do with people's data and privacy however they choose. Only in recent months/years implementing privacy rules that should have been there from the start.

This is merely another stepping stone in the direction, that governments will need to take to ensure that those same tech giants respect user privacy, and implement the necessary policy to do so.
