Hostinger, a popular hosting service, has recently disclosed a data breach that affected some 14 million users. It was reported the breach allowed unauthorized access to a client database. They had this to say:

“On August 23rd, 2019 we have received informational alerts that one of our servers has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. This server contained an authorization token, which was used to obtain further access and escalate privileges to our system RESTful API Server*. This API Server* is used to query the details about our clients and their accounts.

The exposed data included full names, IPs, email addresses, and full contact information, though it was stated that no financial information was included.

In response, the company reset the passwords of the clients that were impacted. Also, they locked out the attackers, as well as shut down the breached server.
