A Russian stated sponsored hacking group known as Turla, has been discovered to be actively targeting infrastructure in Iran, and neighboring middle-eastern states. This specific group is suspected to have Russian FSB backing, and also has been active since 2008. This group has been evolving their own personalized toolkit over time, and recently have been looking to the toolkits and resources of other APT groups.

Turla has, in Iran, been targeting an Iranian backed cyber-group, as was rerported by ZDnet in a previous article., exposing a load of their sensitive data. There are no reports as to whether the Iranian group has retaliated in any form.
